The Beautiful Earth Lab

Explorations. Workshops. Creativity. Change.

The Beautiful Earth Lab is where I experiment with space, materials, and human connection to explore how design can shape our emotions, well-being, and sense of belonging. Through installations, workshops, and public art, I invite people to reimagine their relationship with space, community, and themselves.

For me, creation is not about making commodities for a capitalist market—it is a daily somatic practice of grounding, listening, and remembering who we are. I work exclusively with raw, natural textures, fluid watercolours, and found materials to converse with the landscape. These projects are snippets from my own creative laboratory: the physical evidence of the path I walk every day—a path of unlocking intuitive flow, processing transitions, and grounding the nervous system.

Community & Creative Health Workshops

Facilitating spaces for resilience, connection, and creative agency

My workshops and programs are designed to foster well-being, creativity, and community, whether in healthcare settings, civic spaces, or online sanctuaries. Each session is rooted in somatic practices, creative autonomy, and a deep respect for the individual’s journey.

Moving Matters

Mayo, Ireland | 2025

For the European Moving Matters project, I facilitated embodiment workshops to support the well-being and creative processes of emerging performance artists. Using somatic practices and movement, I created a space for artists to reconnect with their bodies, unlock creativity, and explore how physical presence informs artistic expression. This work is a testament to the power of movement as medicine—a reminder that our bodies hold wisdom, and our creative potential is deeply intertwined with how we inhabit our physical selves.

Helium Arts Panel: Distance Creates Program

National Charity

As a professional artist on the national panel for Helium Arts, I facilitate remote creative health programs for children living with long-term physical illnesses. Guided by a deep ethics of safety and creative autonomy, I deliver custom postal art packs and lead immersive Zoom studio meet-ups. This work uses artistic expression to build profound resilience, joy, and normal community connection outside of a medical setting.

Cork County Council Arts Panel: The Bealtaine Festival

Castletownbere Library, Beara Peninsula

Working on the local civic arts panel, I designed and facilitated an intimate series of workshops for rural older adults at the edge of the peninsula. Blending gentle mindfulness, meditation, light somatic bodywork, and creative making, these sessions provided a spacious, unhurried environment for elders to connect, remember their creative agency, and be witnessed.

The Arts for Health Partnership Programme

West Cork

Operating within the healthcare environment, I facilitated specialised visual and sensory workshops for older adults, including those living with dementia. These sessions use colour, texture, and somatic pacing to open doors of expression and comfort where verbal communication may have receded.

Somatic Movement Practices

Dance Draw & The Creative Nest

Facilitating both online and in-person, these programs combine fluid body movement with intuitive drawing and structured studio time. I guide people to step out of their analytical minds and use physical movement to access their raw creative focus, grounding their nervous systems during periods of isolation and change.

Immersive Spatial Installations & Creative Explorations

Experiments in volume, texture, and emotional resonance

I use physical materials, suspended structures, and daily creative rituals to explore how volume, texture, and simplicity alter the emotional resonance of a room. These projects are not just artworks—they are invitations to pause, reflect, and reconnect.

The Tree of Life

Malahide Community Centre, Dublin | 2015

A permanent public bronze sculpture designed to anchor a shared civic space with a sense of growth, connection, and organic form. This piece stands as a testament to the power of art to foster belonging and inspire collective reflection.

Home/Sick

Science Gallery, Trinity College Dublin | 2015

A spatial installation consisting of 150 hand-crafted cardboard houses suspended in space. This immersive piece challenged perceptions of shelter and vulnerability, addressing the transformative power of a home in a world where 1.6 billion people live in inadequate housing. A home is more than shelter—it can create or deny hope and opportunity.

“I Am No Thing”

Solo Exhibition | 2015

A deeply meditative installation featuring hundreds of fragile, 120mm x 120mm squares of paper, each suspended by a single thread to achieve a state of weightlessness. This work invites viewers to contemplate presence, impermanence, and the quiet beauty of small things.

The Daily Watercolour Practice

2020–2021

A year of daily watercolours painted during global lockdown. This deep immersion in raw colour became my internal compass, ultimately guiding me to relocate permanently to the Beara Peninsula. A simple daily creative ritual proved how art can guide us through massive life transitions and map our way forward.

The Beara Outdoor Bench

Beara Peninsula | 2026

A raw, sculptural timber bench hand-crafted from local wood. This piece bridges utility and artistic form, demonstrating how working with heavy, natural materials can physically ground our bodies and calm our minds.

Natural Fibre Art

Ongoing

Current tactile explorations working with plant fibres. These pieces are studies in bringing the sensory texture of the windswept landscape indoors, inviting touch, presence, and connection.

The Circle Series

2016

A collection of intuitive watercolour studies exploring geometry and organic flow. This series funded my global eco-village research through authentic energy exchanges, proving how creative work can sustain and inspire deeper exploration.

Why These Projects Matter

Each project in the Beautiful Earth Lab is an experiment in how space, materials, and human presence intersect. Whether through somatic workshops, public art, or immersive installations, I explore how design can:

  • Evoke emotional resonance and challenge perceptions.
  • Foster well-being, creativity, and connection.
  • Champion sustainability, somatic wisdom, and democratic participation.
